Peralta News – College of Alameda Selects President

JJacksonThe Board of Trustees of the Peralta Community College District selected Dr. Jannet N. Jackson as president of College Alameda at its regular meeting last night. Dr. Jackson, who is currently Interim President at the college, will begin her three-year contract as President starting July 1, 2011.

Dr. Jannett Jackson received her doctorate from the prestigious Community College Leadership Program in Educational Administration at The University of Texas at Austin and holds a Masters in Education emphasis in Curriculum & Instruction and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Liberal Studies from CSU, Fresno. …morePeralta News – College of Alameda Selects President

    Peralta News – Merritt College Student Named to All-USA Academic Team

    Cassandra BeverlyUSA TODAY named 20 students to its 21st annual All-USA Community College Academic Team in New Orleans, honoring them for outstanding intellectual achievement and leadership, and Merritt College student Cassandra Beverly is among this list.

    “I was nominated by Barbara Dimopoulos, Phi Theta Kappa advisor for the Beta Theta Lambda chapter at Merritt College.” She explains, “I can’t really answer as to why she nominated me, but I believe that she saw my drive, my leadership skills, and high academic marks”.  Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the international honor society for the 2-year colleges.
