Laney College Baseball had a magnificent 2012 Season. Coach Francisco Zapata and staff led these student athletes to a Bay Valley Conference Championship title this year and earned them a shot at the state title. The 2012 CCCBCA Regional Playoff Series matched the #6 Laney Eagles against the #11 Sierra Wolverines in a best of 3 game series. PTVSports was on the scene for the Playoff weekend and here is our report.

After winning the state title in 2010, the Laney Eagles Track & Field Team have been climbing the ladder to get back on top of the medal stand. PTVSports highlights the Winter/Spring sports programs of the Peralta Colleges. LaneyBall (the Laney College Baseball Team) is leading the conference right now and look to swing for the fences in the playoffs. Laney College post season continues with both the Lady Eagles Swimming & Diving Team and the Lady Eagles Track Club. The 2011-2012 Laney College Lady Eagles Basketball Squad are in position for another run at the State Championship crown. Under the direction of Head Coach Ron Williams, the Lady Eagles are Bay Valley Conference Champions and have been in the tournament the last 3 years. However this year, the team may have what it takes to bring a banner to Oakland, CA. Support the Lady Eagles as they begin the quest for a State Championship.
The Peralta Colleges Sports Authority took a trip back up on the hill to visit with the Merritt College Thunderbirds Men’s Basketball Team and head coach Keenan McMiller. The road from Laney College to Superbowl XLVI (46) has been an interesting one for NFL Rookie Defensive Back Sterling Moore. This bay area native played for your Laney College Eagles in 2008 and is now playing on the biggest stage in professional football. PTVSports congratulates Sterling on his perseverance and talents.
