Jack Zhu, a third-year student in the Atech program at the College of Alameda, was awarded the Ozzie Day Scholarship today.

Jack is a graduate of the Alameda High School Auto Program, and has been attending the College of Alameda Auto Program since 2012.   Jack has a soft spot for “Detroit Iron,” and has rebuilt both a 1965 Chevy Truck and a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am during the last few years.  While maintaining a 3.75 GPA in his auto classes, Jack has also worked part-time at Big O Tires, the COA Smog Check Referee station and O’Reilly Auto Parts.  After he finishes the Auto Technology program in May, Jack plans to take Auto Body and Paint classes at COA to round out his automotive expertise.

The Ozzie Day Scholarship is a $500 scholarship which is awarded by the Atech Department each semester to the student with the highest grade point average and the most units in the Atech Program.  The scholarship was set up in memory of Ozzie Day, the founder of Automotive Engineering and a long-time member of the COA Automotive Advisory committee.
