The Chancellor’s Trophy Award winner and recipient of the College of Alameda President’s Medallion for Spring 2016 is Weixing Ou.
Weixing is a biochemistry major with an earned grade point average of 4.0. According to Weixing her dream is to “improve people’s life using my professional skills to focus on HIV and cancer.” Weixing will be attending University of California, Berkeley, Fall 2016, where she will maintain her goal of pursing a BS degree in Biochemistry.
According to Weixing, “the scholarship gives me a chance to continue chasing my dreams. I am a student who not only persistently works hard and makes efforts to overcome every obstacle; but also gets involved in different activities to develop various skills and contributes to the community by volunteering.”
Weixing is an ASCOA Senator, Vice President of College of Alameda’s International Students Club and is an active volunteer who tutors. In addition, she joined the Berkeley City College Lions Club where she attended their community events such as “Street Etiquette” for promoting how to assist the visually impaired person; and volunteers at CoA in support of the annual Red Cross blood drive.
