College of Alameda awarded CCC Maker grant

31 August 2017

Last month, we were given the good news that College of Alameda (CoA) was awarded the CCC Maker grant. For the first year (July 2017- June 2018), CoA will receive $250,000; funding for the second year (July 2018- June 2019) of the grant will be determined by the performance/outcomes of the first year. The college will also provide match funding to support the lab. Your support was crucial in CoA being awarded this grant, so we want to continue keeping you informed as we move to the next phase.

We’ve started the work of implementation, including getting D102-108 ready as well as creating a list of equipment for the lab. To ensure that the equipment meets the needs of its future users, we are continuing the practice of gathering feedback from stakeholders; to  help us sculpt the design of the FabLab/makerspace lab, we ask that you complete a survey to let us know which pieces of equipment you feel would benefit you as a partner.

SURVEY:  The survey provides the name of the equipment, its price range, a description of products that can be created with the equipment, and at the bottom a rating of interest to be completed by the person submitting the survey. (Please see below for example of one equipment entry.)

Deadline for survey submission: Monday, September 11, 2017

We look forward to getting your input and ideas as we want the COA FabLab to be user-centered and user-friendly when it opens in spring 2018. Thank you for your ongoing support!
