Statement of Purpose

February 22, 2011

1. The committee will change its name to the Chancellor’s Ad Hoc Committee (CAHC);

2. The Committee’s goal and purpose is to make recommendations to the Chancellor and the District-wide Education and any other appropriate PBIM Committees to enhance curricular breadth and depth, considering the possibility of specializations and discipline collaborations, by the end of the spring 2011 semester, beginning with the following eight areas: English, Math, ESL, CIS, Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Business, and Foreign Languages;

3. The Committee’s work does not include the reduction of courses or class offerings or the generation of savings;

4. If this process proves fruitful, the Committee will be extended into the 2011-2012 academic year;

5. The Committee will address course and program needs for all of Peralta’s students: transfer, CTE, basic skills, degree, certificate, program and course completion;

6. Committee members will facilitate discipline discussions that lead to faculty recommendations that will be brought to the Committee and Chancellor.
