Our project: "The 10 Wealthiest Asian People from 10 Asian/Southeast Asian Countries", profiles the wealthiest and most financially influential people in Asia. It is important for Asians and Asian Americans to know and understand the people who have the greatest financial influence/power in their Asian countries of origin. Knowing these individuals and what they do and what they stand for is important in understanding the economic and political culture within these Asian countries. Some Asian countries such as Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, whom many of the ethnic locals and communities suffer from poverty, political corruption and class inequality, while Chinese business owners dominate the national and local economies and are the wealthiest individuals within these 3rd world Asian societies. Is this wrong or right? Is this the natural order of life in Asia or is there an imbalance of economic power and control within Asia as a whole? These are questions that are needed to be asked and answered through exposure of these wealthy Asian individuals. This project attempts to expose who are the rich in Asia? and how do they affect their local communities and also the Asian/Southeast Asians here in the United States.
It is important to share this story because Asians in America need to be aware of what is happening politically and economically in their Asian countries of origin. This will provoke questions, thoughts, and hopefully expose the major socioeconomic and political problems within many Asian countries that need to be addressed for the future of Asia/Southeast Asia and its people.

My group's presentation is about Asian American fashion designers and what fashion styles they want to create. The most important part is that people have stereotypes that Asian Americans are conservative, not talkative, and not creative. However, I found out that many Asian American fashion designers characterized their own unique styles. I had a great time finding sources about Asian American designers because one of the fashion designers that I worked on made me to try on his wear. I was also proud that many Asian Americans have distinctive features for their design.

Our group asked the question is race relevant in casting films? We went around asking people about their opinion, and we found many people were not offended that their race or ethnicity was portrayed in actors. Many people don’t care about whom plays what, but I think that this topic is important because there’s people out there that can play their own race and ethnicity. We didn't come to a clear conclusion to our question because other people got different opinions about race and ethnicity.

The focus of our power point and display board was popular Japanese entertainment in America. First we introduce several films written and directed by Akira Kurosawa during the late 1950s early 1960s. These films were remade into classic American films during the same time period. Kurosawa is credited for influencing many popular American film makers of the modern era. When then shed light on Manga, which is a form of Japanese comic books that started to show up in the American market during the 1970s and its popularity has continued to grow. Many current cartoons airing on U.S. television are based on original mangas. Lastly we brought attention to anime full length feature films and director Hayao Miyazaki. In the past anime series were the follow up to popular mangas, they pretty much went hand and hand. In recent years Hayao Miyazaki has created original anime full length feature films whose stories are not preceded by mangas of the same title. Traditional the majority of anime has been geared towards late teens and adults. Hayo has successfully made films suitable for all audiences and and introduce Japanese anime to people that are not familiar with the genre.
The APA story is important to tell because America is a melting pot full of people from all over the world therefore influences that they bring will contribute to the future of American culture.

Traditional wedding attire is emphasized in most Asian cultures even today. The emphasis is on the religious and ceremonial rather than the social aspects and the engaging of the partners' families become less important as we see in the western tradition.
Shinto ceremonial dress has the bride change up to 9 times after her pure white Kimono is in place. Hawaiian bring in elements of nature e.g. water, wooden bowels, plant life (Maile Lei sought in high mountainous regions) for the groom
and floral leis for the brides. Ti leaf rings are exchanged. This is of prime importance, preserving and continuing these particular
customs distinguishing Hawaii from other states of the Union.
Maintaining cultural traditions are of the utmost importance in my opinion. Without these cultural expressions there is the potential for them (subcultures)to weaken exponentially in the face of the powers that be and disappear.
