What are Canvas Training Webinars?

The Peralta CC District has purchased a one-year subscription for all Peralta faculty to attend training webinars–live, online training sessions conducted using videoconference tools–related to Peralta’s new Learning Management System, Canvas.

Why should you use the Canvas Training Webinars?

These training webinars will help you and other Peralta faculty learn how to use Canvas features to build your online courses, and enhance your hybrid and face-to-face courses.

How do I access the Canvas Training Webinars?

Follow the steps below to create an account, login, register for a live webinar, and even earn badges. Also below are lists of Canvas training webinar sessions offered through the subscription.

 

1. Create a Canvas training account.

Go to https://www.cysalesteam.com/instructure/join and submit the form to create your training account.

  • You must use your @peralta.edu email address.
  • For the “Company” field, enter your campus name (College of Alameda, Berkeley City College, Laney College, or Merritt College).
  • You will receive an email that confirms your new account.

2. Sign-in and register for a live webinar.

Go to https://www.cysalesteam.com/instructure and click “Sign In” at the top right of the screen. Sign-in to your training account and register for one or more live webinars from your dashboard Calendar.

3. Earn Credly Badges.

Participate in the webinars and post your questions on the live chat. Earn a Credly Badge on completion. View the Training Badges offered by Canvas.

How Long is Our Training Subscription?

Our subscription runs until September 2018, so please make full use of this great training opportunity in tandem with the workshops taught by our Instructional Designer, Kevin Kelly, and one-on-one assistance from your DE Coordinator and Faculty Trainer peers.

Come prepared to learn more about how you can use Canvas in your everyday life as an instructor. Specific use cases, cool ideas, & classroom analytics are just a few of the topics we will explore.
