Top 10 things to remember about qualifying for most federal and state aid
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Submit verified GPA to apply for Cal Grants
- Demonstrate financial need (except for unsubsidized loans)
- Have a high school diploma, GED or completion of a high school education in a state-approved home-school setting
- Be a U.S. citizen, permanent citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Be a resident of the state (for state aid only)
- Enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program Approved Programs
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP)
- Have a Social Security number
- Be registered with the U.S. Selective Service (males 18-25 years of age only).
