Check your Financial aid in Your Passport account!

Dear Students,

We are excited to inform you of a few important changes that will improve and enhance your student financial aid experience. Beginning in January 2014, we will be migrating to a new financial aid system. The new system will provide you with considerably more information through your Passport student self-service portal.  Here are some of the exciting new features:

  • There will be a new “To Do List” that will help you complete and submit for your student financial aid application.
  • The “Holds” menu will indicate your financial aid application status. For example, it will let you know if you have completed all required items or if you must do something to complete your application.

The new system will allow the financial aid offices at Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney and Merritt Colleges in Oakland, to communicate with you in a more responsive and efficient manner. This will improve the quality of service that we will be able to deliver to you and will improve the timeliness in which we process financial aid applications and award student financial packages.

Beginning January 2014, we will begin loading 2014-15 student financial aid application data into the new system. This information is based on the 2014-2015 FAFSA application filed with the federal government.  We will be sending communications to you about your student financial aid application for Fall 2014 and onward. Our communications will be sent directly to your Peralta email account.  Therefore, it is important that you have access to your Passport account and that your Peralta email is activated to stay up-to-date on your student financial aid application.

Please note these changes do not impact the current semester and Summer 2014 processing and awarding of financial aid. The Financial Aid “To do list” reflected in your Passport account is not applicable for the current year financial aid file. Please continue to work with the Financial Aid Specialists on your campus to complete your student financial aid application and receive your financial aid awards.

We look forward to providing you with excellent service in the coming year and appreciate your patience as we make these improvements.
