Attention Financial Aid Students!!!
Go to www.peraltacard.com and activate your account and select your refund preference to receive your financial aid disbrusement in a timely manner:.
Upon receiving your PeraltaCard, you can activate your refund preference in three simple steps:
- Visit the website www.PeraltaCard.com
- Set up – Enter your card number to get started.
- Choose the refund option that is best for you. (PeraltaCard, Direct Deposit, By Check)
If no option has been selected, you will automatically receive a paper check in the mail 21 days from your disbursement date

UPDATE YOUR MAILING AND EMAIL ADDRESS
Financial Aid Students: In order to continue to receive uninterrupted financial aid, you MUST review and update your MAILING ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER. The Peralta Colleges are implementing a new financial aid system beginning the week of March 1st and you must confirm your correct contact information to receive your funds. You will also need to activate your Peralta email account to receive key information regarding financial aid. Please watch for a bright green envelope in your mailbox containing important information about your financial aid payments.
The Peralta Community College District has engaged with HigherOne, Inc., a financial services company, to implement a new method of Financial Aid disbursement to the campuses.
We are scheduled to begin with the financial aid disbursement on the week of March 1, 2012.
Students will have 3 choices to receive their disbursement:
- PeraltaCard – One Account: Same-day deposits to students’ HigherOne accounts (Debit Card)
- Direct deposits to another bank account (i.e. Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Credit Union, etc…) (refunds available in 2-3 business days)
- By check, which would be mailed to their home (refunds available in 5-7 business days).
The new PeraltaCard will be mailed to each student’s current address on file with Peralta Community College District. It is critical that all students update their mailing address. When the student receives the card in the mail, he or she must activate the card and choose a disbursement option in order to access the financial aid money at www.PeraltaCard.com

- Laney College – Beginning January 27th, occurring weekly on Fridays
- Merritt College – Beginning February 3rd, every Monday and Wednesday through March 31st
- Berkeley City College – Staff currently available on an individual basis
- College of Alameda – Staff currently available on an individual basis in the Welcome Center
HigherOne ATM Machines locations:
- College of Alameda - F building right next to the Cyber Café.
- Berkeley City College – 5th floor in the Student Lounge.
- Laney College – Student center in the dining hall.
- Merritt College – R building next to Admission and Records and Financial Aid entrance.
Students will be able to withdraw money from these ATM Machines without a fee (If students withdraw money from any other ATM or outside bank, they will be charged $2.50 per transaction)
Please note: There is also a $20 replacement fee for lost cards.
