Peralta Colleges Foundation has been awarded $50,000 from The Coca-Cola Foundation for the Peralta Promise Initiative, specifically for Increasing Access for First-Generation College Students.

The Peralta Promise is the campaign to enable qualifying students to attend their first semester at the Peralta Colleges – Laney College, Merritt College, College of Alameda, or Berkeley City College – for free! The Foundation’s campaign raises money to cover student awards for funding Enrollment, Use, Health and Transit fees.

Coca-Cola has a long-standing initiative to support first-generation college-bound students (as well as youth development, women and water conservation) and this grant will provide students with tuition and/or fee waivers as scholarship awards.

At the Peralta Colleges Foundation, we believe that all students deserve the opportunities afforded by a college education and that motivated students should never have to choose between pursuing their education and paying their bills.

According to Time Magazine, the cost of community college has increased 31% over the last 10 years. Your year-end support to the Peralta Colleges Foundation will fund scholarships that provide access to post-secondary education AND can make the difference between a Peralta Colleges student staying in school or dropping out.

Together, we can provide access to high quality, educational programs and services that create opportunities and transform lives right here in our community.

The Peralta Colleges Foundation is committed to providing students with access to post-secondary education and persistence services so they can complete college prepared for a successful career. The Peralta Promise enables qualifying students to attend their first semester at one of the Peralta Colleges – Laney College, Merritt College, College of Alameda, or Berkeley City College – for free!

Please join us in making the Peralta Promise and ensuring that our young people are prepared for success. Together, we can ensure that Peralta students have the expectations, resources, and skills to complete college and embark on a successful career.
