On November 18, 2015, a transfer workshop was held at College of Alameda’s Student Center to provide students with general information on transferring to the University of California, Berkeley, as well as other UCs and CSUs, such as San Francisco State University (SFSU). Present were Lin Larson from UC Berkeley’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions; Brittany Anderson, counselor at UC Berkeley; Camille Santana, former SFSU counselor who is currently a counselor at COA; and Angela Khoo, Peralta international student and academic counselor at COA and Merritt College.

Over 20 students (international and domestic) attended the event and many questions were answered regarding the transfer process, admissions requirements and advice on writing a personal statement. The event was hosted by COA’s International Student Club; however, it was open to all students.

“The event was very helpful and informative. I learned that I needed to pay attention to some bundle classes that needed to be taken in the same campus. I hope there will be more events like this, so we students can learn more about the transferring process.” – Thinh Tu, International student from Vietnam at COA.

We will host another transfer workshop next April, 2016.
