Mental Health in the Hood II: Dealing with Trauma in Traumatic Times

After the massacre inside of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, after Sandra Bland, after the carnage inside of the Pulse Nightclub, after Alton Sterling and Philando Castille, after Korryn Gaines, after the police officers being murdered in Dallas and after Terrance Crutcher—how are we supposed to keep it together mentally when the hashtags continue to pile up and the trauma seems to be unyielding? How can students manage to stay focused on their classes? How do instructors remain focused on their work?

Please join us at Laney College in room D-200 on Wednesday, October 26th  at 7:00pm as we engage in a conversation about how to deal with our own personal trauma in these times of tumult.

Our panel will include mental health specialist from Berkeley City College Janine Greer, community activists Braunz Courtney and Lorenzo Cooper, and a student from Laney College.

Let’s get the conversation started in hopes that we can begin the long healing process.
