Biology 62Q: Ecology of California Cascades and Mount Shasta will be available for enrollment starting in the Fall 2016 semester at Merritt College.

This course will introduce students to the volcanic geology and natural history of the southernmost extension of the Cascade Mountains–into Northen California–and the tallest active volcano, the iconic Mt. Shasta.

This course fulfills a requirement in the Natural History Certificate of Proficiency.

Required classroom sessions at Merritt College, Room S-220, on Thursdays, September 1, 8, and 15, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Field Sessions: Sunday, September 11, at the Regional Parks Botanic Garden, and Saturday and Sunday, September 17 and 18, in the Mount Shasta area

The College of Alameda is hosting an Olympics on Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 12 p.m. in the COA Gym.

If you are interested in representing the International Student Club to participate in the event, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can get everything ready and sign up for it.

Here's the run-down of events:

DAY 1:

3 Point Shot: 1 participant. (3 shots from 5 different spots outside of the 2 point line in 60s)
Chess 1 participant
Relay Race: team game. Different small games included. The team finishes first is the winner
Team Jeopardy: team game

Day 2:

Treasure Hunt: team game. Retrieve as many of items on designated list before time runs out
Whip cream pie contest: 1 participant. Find as many bubble gum in the pie without using hands in 40s time
Spelling Bee: 2 participants
Debate: 1 participants; can be changed between rounds. (Possible topics: Presidential candidates, Supreme Court nominee, ISIS)

AC Transit will on campus of the four Peralta Colleges (College of Alameda, Berkeley City College, Laney College, and Merritt College) beginning next week.

There will be a table with AC Transit service information and giveaways for students.

Tuesday, April 5, 2016 - Laney College, Main Entrance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wednesday, April 6, 2016 - Berkeley City College, Atrium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thursday, April 7, 2016 - College of Alameda, Building F (outside the Student Activities & Lounge) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Monday, April 11, 2016 - Merritt College, Building R (outside the Student Activity Center) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Come and join the Experience Berkeley transfer program workshop on April 5, 2016, 12 p.m. in room F170C, Computer Lab, at Laney College.

This is a special transfer workshop for Black, Latin@, and Native American students. The program has a 70% success rate of getting into UC Berkeley.

To be eligible to participate in the Experience Berkeley transfer program workshop:

Self-identify as Black, Latin@, or Native American
3.4 GPA
At least 30 transferable units
