Who May Enroll?

14 July 2011

First Time College Students

All persons 18 years of age or older are eligible for admission as a California resident or nonresident. Anyone under 18 years of age who is a high school graduate or has been awarded a GED or California High School Proficiency Certificate may also enroll.

Transfer Students

If you attended a college outside our district, you will want to submit official transcripts from each institution for your permanent record.

Official transcripts of past academic records should be sent to the Peralta Community College District Admissions and Records Office.

The address is 333 E 8th Street, Oakland, CA 94606.

The student is responsible for requesting that the transcripts from other schools previously attended be mailed directly to the District Admissions and Records Office by the school issuing them.

If you need to satisfy prerequisites, you are encouraged to meet with a counselor prior to your registration date to avoid registration delays. Please bring proof of your prerequisite work regardless of whether you already submitted a transcript.

High School Students

In accordance with California Education Code regulations, high school students entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade may enroll as special part-time students. Enrollment must be recommended by their principal, with parental consent. Units earned are for college credit. It is the high school’s prerogative to grant high school credit for courses taken from the Peralta Colleges.

International Students

Special regulations govern the admission of international students. These students should contact the Office of International Education for applications and admissions information at 510-466-7380 or visit the website at http://web.peralta.edu/international/.

**There are no immunization requirements for enrollment in the Peralta Colleges.
