Peralta Community College District Diversity Initiative: Cracking the Codes

29 August 2013

We are pleased to announce the Cracking the Codes: Deepening the Conversation on Race diversity initiative for Peralta Colleges.  This workshop is designed for our campus communities to reframe and deepen the conversation on race.  Through multi-media, dialogue, and other participatory methods, Dr. Shakti Butler, will guide participants to foster collective engagement and build adaptive leadership skills that can illumine pathways toward healing, equity, and a more sustainable future.  Dr. Butler is a renowned racial justice speaker, educator, and filmmaker.

Participants will gain:

  • A practical framework for understanding and creating positive dialogue around deconstructing systemic racial inequities.
  • Strengthen relationships with allies across Peralta who seek to promote equity through collective impact work.

The event is free and open to all students, staff, faculty and administrators.  Please see the attached schedule date/time for your College.

Please contact Tamika M. Brown for more information at: tmbrown@peralta.edu
