Foster Youth who are emancipated into legal adulthood are often at a disadvantage when it comes to college and career placement.
Through the College of Alameda’s Cougar Scholar Program, coordinator and EOPS counselor Jamar Mears is here to help such students financially and emotionally integrate into college life.

I think this is a great opportunity for all emancipated foster youth. We all have struggles and hardhsips when trying to focus and stay in school. I think this should be available on all campuses of the peralta district so students who are not accessible to go to alameda can benefit from the program.
This is a wonderful for students who are already at a disadvantage.
