David Lee Completes Transformational Leadership Program

The Association of California Community College Administrators (ACCCA) has announced that Dr. David Lee, Director of the Laney College APASS Program has successfully completed training in the 2019 Administration 201: Transformational Leadership Program. The program provides leadership skills development in an Academy setting and focuses on change management and core leadership skills. 

“ACCCA develops training programs to help build administrative acumen within a system tasked with meeting the needs of over 2 million students,” said Susan Bray, ACCCA Executive Director. “David demonstrates exceptional skill for collaboration within our industry. His ultimate success as a professional will help the system meet its student success goals.”

The Admin 201 program was launched in 2010 to help train the next generation of leaders in the California community colleges. Candidates for the Admin 201 program are vetted for their potential for future system leadership, and are selected from a pool of statewide applicants. 

About ACCCA: The Association was formed as a non-profit in 1976 to represent the interests of the administrators and managers of the largest system of higher education in the world. ACCCA develops and supports current and future California community administrators through professional development, networking, and advocacy.

This month on Peralta Matters, we’re speaking with graduates of our four Peralta Colleges. First up, Lorenzo Ramsey from Berkeley City College explains his decision to complete six (6) AA degrees in two years. Next, College of Alameda volleyball star Taylor Elliott describes her experience as a student athlete. Malina Ly tells us about the support she received from the APASS program at Laney College. Erik Leon relates the Merritt College experience and how it helped him get into Cal State East Bay. And Aman Williams details his history at Berkeley City College.

Peralta News – APASS Program at Laney College

The Asian Pacific American Student Success (APASS) program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) initiative, is designed to enhance the capacity of Laney College to serve its large and diverse Asian American and Pacific Islander (API) student population, increasing student engagement and improving educational outcomes for this student cohort. Peralta News – Learning Communities at College of Alameda

On May 9, the four Student Learning Communities at College of Alameda, Adelante, Amandla, APASS and Create the Class, celebrated their students’ success in the District Atrium. The Learning Communities use cultural curricula to engage students and teach the basic skills and confidence to succeed. We are all proud of these student success stories!
