The October 21, 2014 meeting of the Peralta Colleges Board of Trustees featured a proclamation honoring Berkeley City College, Stanford and Oxford alumna Tenzin Seldon. The Board approved a 19 meeting calendar for 2015. And engaged in a lively discussion around our students becoming apprentices in the building trades in the first reading of a side letter to our Project Labor Agreement.

The March 25 meeting of the Peralta Colleges Board of Trustees featured a report from Chancellor Ortiz on the Statewide Student Equity Conference hosted at Laney College. The Apparel Design and Merchandising program at College of Alameda was presented as a Program of Distinction. And Trustee Linda Handy proposed strengthening our Project Labor Agreement.

The October 25 Board of Trustees meeting started with a large group of students, faculty and staff presented a petition with over 5000 signatures against cutting classes. They also received a status report on the Project Labor Agreement, an attempt to use more local workers on Peralta construction projects. And finally, funding requests for software and support drew criticism from Trustees.
