Business In Japan (Simon Chan) – Merritt College Business 72 (Spring 2022)

INFORMATIONAL MEETING: TBD

  • Location: Tokyo, Japan
  • College: Merritt College
  • Course: Business 72 – Principles of Retailing (Course #TBD)
  • Instructor: Simon Chan (ychan@peralta.edu)
  • Term: Spring 2022 Intersession
  • Units: 3
  • Acceptable for credit: CSU
  • Description:Retail stores from management’s perspective: Principles and practices used in merchandising, operational problems of the firm, trends in merchandising, case-method techniques of actual on- the-job problems.
  • Dates: May 27-June 3, 2022 (Travel), + Additional Class dates before and or after travel (Online or in person at Merritt College)
  • Cost: TBD (Includes: Lodging (shared room), some meals, ground transportation, activities/excursions)
    • Additional Expenses not included: Passport (if you do not have one already) and enrollment fees for Business 72 Principles of Retailing (3 units)

In addition to completing the Pre-Travel Study Abroad Information Form, students will need to read, sign and submit the following documents in order to be accepted to the program:

  1. Apply to the college and obtain a Student ID (if you do not have one already)
  2. Assumption of Risks
  3. Waiver and Release Agreement
  4. Standards of Student Conduct
  5. Submit a completed and signed Add Card (It is okay to leave the course code blank if you do not know it)
  6. Submit copy of passport (Or ID if you do not have one)

Prior to departure, each student will need to also:

  1. Apply for a Passport (if you do not have one already) or Renew Passport (if not valid for at least 6 months from time of travel)
  2. Make program payments by deadlines
  3. Pay for course in Student Center
  4. Attend mandatory pre-departure orientations (Dates TBD)
  5. Register with the US Department of Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)
  6. Obtain proper immunizations as listed on CDC website and check with your physician
