IT Maintenances

To improve services, District Information Technology (IT) must perform regular patches and routine maintenance on its systems and networks. Many of these activities require downtime in order preserve the integrity of the systems and data. While this work is essential, it also presents an inconvenience for those who use these systems. To enable our faculty, staff, and students to better plan for such events, IT is establishing a new “Scheduled Maintenance Plan” for performing routine maintenance and upgrades to our services.

Periodic maintenance on IT systems and network include:

  • Critical Security Patches
  • Software/Hardware Patches and Upgrades
  • Software/Hardware Installations
  • System Re-configurations
  • Server Reboots
  • Availability Testing

Scheduled maintenance may last from four (4) to six (6) hours, but a twelve (12) hour period is reserved if business users are required to perform verification.

There are times during the academic year when scheduled system changes are postponed (blackout) in order to minimize disruptions to business services. Requests for blackout exceptions are based on approval and may be sent to Peralta Help Desk at
